What this desk is, and what it isn’t
swissreptime is a reference. The aim is narrow and stubborn: to be the most accurate, most current, least biased source on which factory does which super clone best — written by people who handle the watches rather than copy each other.
Why it exists
The technical questions in this hobby — which factory leads a model, what a movement actually is, how to vet a piece before paying — are mostly answered today by content that is stale, biased, or written by someone who has never had a caseback off. Some of it still names factories that have been shut down for over a year. That is not a small gap. It is the whole opening, and this desk exists to fill it cleanly.
How we work
- Hands first. Verdicts come from pieces handled in person — movements, finishing, batch-to-batch differences — not from aggregating other people’s posts.
- Dated, always. Every guide carries a “current as of” date, because a factory map without a date is decoration. The market moves; the record moves with it.
- No closed factories. We do not name or recommend factories that have shut down, even to correct the people who still do.
- No bias for sale. The honest caveat — where a watch falls short, who it isn’t for — is part of every verdict. A reference that only ever says “buy” isn’t one.
- No prices here. This site does not publish pricing and does not sell from these pages. It is a reference desk, not a shop.
If you want to go deeper
The discussion, the weekly QC threads, the factory-news back-and-forth, and the people who keep this record current all live in the r/swissreptime community on Reddit. If a guide here raised a question, or you want a second eye on something before you commit, that is the place to ask. Read the guides for the reference; join the community for the conversation.
