Factory Verdicts
Which factory makes the best Submariner 126610LN in 2026?
By swissreptime · current as of June 2026
VSF. It builds the 126610LN on the proprietary VS3235 calibre, and on the thing that actually separates a top Sub from an ordinary one — the movement — nothing else is close. The case and bracelet are where rivals get nearest, but the engine is where VSF wins, and the engine is the part you live with.
The Submariner is the most-asked question in this whole hobby, which is exactly why so much of the writing on it is lazy. The honest answer in 2026 is short.
The movement is the whole argument
Everyone can stamp a Cerachrom bezel and brush a case. Where Subs separate is the calibre, and the VS3235 is a dedicated clone of Rolex’s in-house 3235 rather than a generic base wearing a costume. That matters in the unglamorous ways that show up after a week on the wrist: the date snaps over at midnight instead of crawling from eleven, the seconds hand sits on the markers instead of drifting off them by late afternoon, and the power reserve actually holds close to its claim instead of sagging overnight.
One thing to put down for good: the VS3235 is not free-sprung, and the Dandong bases other factories build on are not free-sprung either. That line gets repeated by people who have never had the caseback off. Ignore it.
Case, bezel and bracelet
This is the part where the competition gets close, so be fair about it. The 126610LN case proportions are right, the lug-to-lug sits correctly, and the Cerachrom insert has the slightly recessed platinum numerals filled cleanly rather than painted on. The bracelet’s solid end links seat without the gap that gives away a weaker build, and the clasp has the right heft. A good case from another factory can match a lot of this. It cannot match the movement, which is why the verdict holds.
Where it falls short
Bottom line
For the 126610LN in 2026, VSF is the pick, and it is not a close call once you weight the movement properly. If a guide tells you otherwise, check when it was written — and check whether it mentions the calibre at all, because the ones that skip the movement are usually the ones that have never handled it.
