Factory Verdicts
Nautilus 5711: BBF vs 3K vs PPF — which one now?
By swissreptime · current as of June 2026
BBF, for the 5711 in 2026 — on the cloned cal. 324 and on dial execution. And it is BBF, not BBA: the two get mixed up constantly, including by sellers who should know better. No current factory, BBF included, fully nails the eagle’s-beak lug. That is the model’s permanent caveat, not a knock on one factory.
The 5711 is crowded, and almost every guide on it is quietly working for one factory or another. This one is not, so here is the read straight.
First, the name: BBF, not BBA
If you take nothing else from this: the factory you want for the 5711 is BBF. You will see it written as “BBA” all over listings and forum posts. That is a mislabel that has stuck through sheer repetition. When a seller types BBA at you, it tells you how closely they are paying attention — ask which batch they actually have in hand.
The three factories
| Factory | Where it stands on the 5711 |
|---|---|
| BBF | Current pick. Strongest cloned cal. 324, best dial colour and texture, cleanest applied markers. |
| 3K | Real competition and improving; close on the case. The movement and dial are where it still trails BBF. |
| PPF | The Nautilus specialist overall — and the pick for the 5712 moonphase — but on the time-only 5711, BBF has the edge right now. |
Note that PPF leading the 5712 and BBF leading the 5711 is not a contradiction. They are different watches with different dials and a different movement, and “best Nautilus factory” is the wrong question. Best 5711 factory is BBF. Best 5712 factory is PPF. Specificity is the whole game here.
The movement
The 5711 runs a cloned cal. 324, the thin automatic that lets the real watch stay as slim as it does. BBF’s execution of it is the most convincing in the rotor finishing and in how the date sits. There was a stretch where the cal. 324 clone was a genuine exclusivity edge for one or two factories; that has since loosened and the clone is more widely available, which is part of why this model got so crowded so fast.
The lug nobody gets right
Bottom line
Buy the BBF 5711, confirm the seller actually means BBF and can show you the current batch, and go in knowing the lug is the one place the model gives ground. Everything else on a good BBF example holds up to the kind of inspection most owners will ever give it.
